Picture Perfect Wedding Venue

Why Couples Love Getting Married at Arts Ballroom in Center City Philadelphia

When you’re planning a wedding in Philadelphia, you’re looking for a venue that delivers more than just four walls and a floor. You want a space that feels right the moment you walk in, service that anticipates what you need before you ask, and details that your guests will actually remember. We’ve hosted hundreds of weddings at Arts Ballroom, and couples keep telling us the same things about why they chose us and why they loved their day here.

What Sets Arts Ballroom Apart for Philadelphia Weddings

We’ve seen what matters to couples once they’re past the Pinterest boards and into actual planning. It comes down to whether the space works logically, whether the service ratio keeps things moving, and whether you’re spending energy on decisions that actually improve your day. Here’s what we include and why it matters when you’re hosting 150 to 250 people in Center City.

A Space That Feels Both Grand and Intimate

Our Grand Ballroom gives you 10,000 square feet with exclusive use, which means the entire venue is yours for the day. You’re not sharing hallways or restrooms with another event. The mahogany doors open to hardwood floors that warm the space, and the French acoustic ceiling means your vows carry clearly without extra equipment. We kept the original granite staircase from the 1923 Hotel Sylvania, and couples use it constantly for photos and grand entrances.

The marble fireplace anchors one end of the room, and crystal chandeliers give you soft light that photographs beautifully. When you seat 230 for a formal dinner, guests can still move comfortably between tables. If you’re doing a cocktail reception, we can fit 250 in the Grand Ballroom alone or up to 550 across the full venue.

Service That Actually Covers the Details You’d Forget

We include one server for every 10 guests and one bartender for every 75, which keeps lines short and glasses full. Your day comes with a bridal attendant, event specialist, maître d’, doormen, and a captain overseeing the floor. That ratio matters when you’re trying to serve 200 people a plated dinner without anyone waiting.

We handle white-glove tableside service, butlered hors d’oeuvres, and attended cocktail stations. Your bar is top shelf and open, with bartenders who know how to keep a reception moving. Tax and gratuity are included in your package, so you’re not calculating percentages the week before your wedding.

Spaces That Let Your Day Flow Naturally

The Sylvania Room sits right next to the Grand Ballroom, and it’s where most couples host cocktail hour. The backlit marble bar and mirrored décor create a lounge feel, and it holds 300 for cocktails or 100 for a seated dinner. If you want to keep your ceremony offsite and use us for the reception, that works. If you want everything in one place, we seat your ceremony in the Grand Ballroom and then flip it for dinner while guests move to the Sylvania Room.

The Mezzanine gives you two private suites with private restrooms and Juliet balconies that overlook the Ballroom. Your bridal party gets ready there, and the suites double as a quiet space during the reception when you need five minutes away from the crowd.

What’s Included Without Asking

We provide custom lighting, which means uplighting, spotlights, and party lights tailored to your colors. Your custom wedding cake is included, along with cake cutting service and a full dessert menu. Linens, napkins, tables, chairs, silverware, flatware, and glassware come with your package. We handle full setup and breakdown, and you get weekday rehearsal access so your wedding party knows where to stand.

Our onsite event coordinator works with you from booking through your send off, and we build customizable all-inclusive catering packages around what you actually want to eat. You’re not picking from three standard menus.

A Location That Gives You Photo Options

We’re on Locust Street in Center City, right off the Avenue of the Arts. City Hall, Love Park, Dilworth Park, Washington Square, and Rittenhouse Square are all within blocks. Your photographer can walk your group to Broad Street or any of those spots without needing transportation, and you’re back at the venue in 15 minutes.

The neighborhood has the cultural feel couples want when they’re hosting a Philadelphia wedding. Your out-of-town guests can walk to restaurants and hotels, and the Convention Center is close if you have a hotel block nearby.

Architecture That Photographs Without Extra Work

The white-paneled walls in the Grand Ballroom reflect light evenly, so your photographer doesn’t need to fight shadows. The French acoustic ceiling was designed for sound, but it also adds dimension to overhead shots. The granite staircase and marble fireplace give you built-in backdrops, and the Juliet balconies on the Mezzanine create angles your photographer will use.

We’re in the Arts Condominium now, but this building started as the Hotel Sylvania in 1923. Indian Creek Investments bought the original Ballroom and Theater in 2008, and Spector Design Company renovated it through 2011. The design honors that history without feeling dated.

If you want to see how the spaces work together, we’re here Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM and Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM. Can we bring in our own vendors, or do we use yours?
We provide all catering, bar service, and coordination through our in house team. Our customizable all-inclusive packages cover food, beverage, staffing, and setup, with tax and gratuity included. For other vendors like photography, florals, or entertainment, you’re welcome to bring in your own choices.

What’s included in the bridal suite, and when can we access it?
